well-maintained c. 1910-20 american antique off-white glazed “sullivanesque” style terra cotta fragment designed and fabricated by the midland terra cotta company, chicago, il. the small-sized ornamental block contains distinctive design elements heavily influenced by louis sullivan and george grant elmslie. the cream-colored finish remains in great shape, considering age. the “stock” fragment was salvaged from the exterior facade of a chicago commercial building. measures 15 x 16 1/2 x 5 inches.
