diminutive c. 1920’s ceiling-mount american ornamental cast plaster ceiling medallion fragment salvaged from the lakeshore drive athletic club building main lobby during interior renovations. the historically significant lakefront building was designed by renowned chicago architect jarvis hunt. the towering beaux-arts style building opened in 1927. the metallic gold enameled decorative fragment was apart of a much larger ceiling medallion or rosette (see picture) surrounding the canopy of the lobby’s largest ceiling fixture. likely fabricated by the decorators’ supply co., chicago, il. measures 9 1/2 x 9 inches.
