17 Jun bldg. 51 revamped to incorporate both archival and consulting services
in the wake of recently completing a publication on my collection, “bldg. 51 museum: a collection of historically important american architectural artifacts,” i have decided to make some additions to the virtual bldg. 51 museum in the form of services offered. this will include archival services (akin to my 3-year documentation of the 1893 chicago athletic association building’s transition to a boutique hotel), along with opportunities to hire my services for consulting, lectures, publishing, etc.
some of the changes mentioned above have slowly been added to the bldg. 51 website, with many more to be added in the coming months. i’m very excited to use this more cerebral and research driven skill set to diversify and focus more attention on historic preservation and industrial archaeology. i feel like i’m returning to a previous life where i was equally consumed by scientific research and rescuing architectural artifacts. the only difference ten years later is that the subject matters now falls under one umbrella.
the chicago athletic club association building was documented time and again over a three year period with over 10,000 images taken during various phases of construction.
