11 Oct vast assortment of vintage american industrial furniture salvaged from zim mfg. company factory

urban remains recently secured several pallets worth of american vintage industrial furniture (dating to the 1940’s-1950’s), removed from the zim manufacturing company factory building. founded in 1919, the zim manufacturing company specialized in the manufacture of automobile specialty tools and gauges, housewares, and other hand tools. the extant factory is located on the far west side of chicago. we are currently cleaning and documenting piles of cast iron bases, pollard and lyon stools, metal cabinets and hopper bins, signage, and flat files. some of the industrial furniture shown below is already listed on the urban remains website for purchase. furniture from the zim factory will be listed over the next several weeks.
