a catalog of architectural ornament from adler and sullivan’s chicago stock exchange building housed in the bldg. 51 museum

a digital photographic inventory of  louis sullivan-designed architectural ornament from adler and sullivan’s chicago stock exchange building (1894) salvaged during its demolition in 1972.

significance, description and provenance will be assigned to the ornament (listed below) when time permits. like other collections held in the bldg. 51 museum, the primary objective is to continually seek out and acquire additional artifacts, images and ornament (when opportunities arise) to establish a more well-rounded and comprehensive narrative that sheds light on the lifecycle of buildings that have either been destroyed or remain standing, but bearing a heavily compromised identity caused by short-sighted and often irreversible alterations.
