10 Jan lost and found: rediscovering discarded ephemera hidden within depression-era chicago theaters

forgotten objects and ephemera found hidden in the crawlspaces, attics, plenums and basements of five depression-era chicago theaters. my “lost and found” project of documenting and discovering what tradesmen and theatergoers left behind or discarded over the decades lasted nearly three years.

after collecting and organizing any and all data, i published a book entitled “lost and found: uncovering what was left behind at congress theater.” i chose to focus on the congress theater for the book since i not only spent the majority of my time, thanks to unabridged access, there, but managed to reach a critical mass of material collected from my repeated and often extensive exploration of its many hidden spaces.
