a collection of original and historially important late 19th and early 20th century 8 x 10 glass plate negatives of seldom seen interior views of both northwestern terra cotta company and the american terra cotta company modeling rooms featuring sullivanesque style building ornament – both finished product and various stages of development – have been carefully cleaned and digitized.

the clay models mounted on oversized wooden easels are the work of the exceptionally talented chicago-based sculptor kristian schneider, who did work for prairie school architects adler and sullivan, purcell and elmslie, schmidt, garden, and martin, harry b. wheelock, george c. nimmons, frank lloyd wright.
the patterns used for the ornamental ironwork were made by special arrangement at the northwestern terra cotta company for the winslow brothers, who fabricated the building’s interior and exterior ironwork.
