tigerman entered a competition to design a 9-story, 200-space parking garage with only one rule: create a garage that doesn’t look like one but still signals its purpose. his winning design featured a giant car grille façade, a hood ornament, and tire-shaped awnings.  

although the building became popularly referred to as the rolls-royce garage, tigerman claimed to have examined numerous luxury automobiles from the 1920s and 1930s to inform his design. “rolls-royce, mercedes-benz, bentley, and others,” tigerman stated at the time.
