exterior detail photographic survey of geroge kingsley’s egpytian revival style 1922 reebie storage warehouse, located at 2325 north clark street, chicago, il.

sadly, the spray-glazed egyptian revival style terra cotta cornice was removed in the 1970s, but thankfully several people were around to salvage it.

the bldg. 51 museum has a section of the cornice modeled by fritz albert for the northwestern terra cotta company.

the reebie storage warehouse was built in 1922 for the reebie storage and moving co. at 2325 north clark street #300 in chicago’s lincoln park neighborhood. an example of egyptian revival architecture, it was added to the national register of historic places in 1979 and designated a chicago landmark in 1999.

architect george kingsley and sculptor fritz albert, who created the terra cotta ornamentation, designed the building. statues of ramses ii at the entrance depict founders john and william reebie. the reebies sought a unique style inspired by an egyptian revival storage building in stockton, california, and john’s travels to egypt.
