chicago’s stevens-davis advertising company building faces wrecking ball

the stevens-davis advertising company building (completed, 1921) is set to be smashed. i was alerted this morning through cityscape’s demo tracker (see link below).
the facade is adorned with exquisite polychrome glazed terra cotta ornament executed by the midland terra cotta company. i’m curious whether the sullivanesque ornament is a “stock” pattern or custom design by the building’s architect robert smith. looking through my midland catalogs this evening will hopefully provide answers.
i managed to shoot the facade this afternoon, including several images of the ornament in great detail.
