photo-documenting 19th and early 20th century south side chicago architecture revisited

latest images from my ever-growing photographic survey of extant late 19th and early 20th century chicago residential and commercial structures located across chicago. notable examples of south side chicago architecure recorded in this survey include frank lloyd wright’s heller, blossom, and robie houses, burnham and root’s sydney a. kent house, and site of louis sullivan’s albert sullivan house. the survey also included images of distinctive architectureal ornament executed in terra cotta, stone, and metal during the late 19th and early 20th century.

taken as a whole, the seemingly random selection of images reflect a multitude of concurrent research projects i’m working on for use in exhibits, material and method research and bolstering narratives of objects that otherwise are devoid of context.
