the mixed-use building (i.e., retail on ground floors and residential on upper floors, in addition to the theater) was built for chicago saloonkeeper john dusek by the architectural firm of fabeer and pagels in 1892. the building was named after thalia – the greek muse of comedy and pastoral poetry.
