27 May 1880’s victorian-era commercial building with union works ornamental iron storefront demolished

the following images are from a two-story victorian era commercial building built around 1882. additional research will hopefully flesh out architect and/or builder along with commercial and residential tenements that resided there since the time the building was completed. 

the largely intact storefront was fabricated by chicago-based union ironworks. variations of the exterior post and beam configuration surrounding the plate glass windows (removed long ago) appear in the union catalog included in this blog entry. identification of the companies that fabricated the first floor interior ornamental tin ceiling and exterior roofline tin ornament is ongoing.

note: as of this writing the 19th century two-story combination commercial/residential building has been demolished.
