fridstein and company’s 1926 congress theater in logan square continue to crumble nearly 8 years after my last visit

i haven’t returned to congress theater (fridstein and company, 1926) since i published my book on what i discovered from within in 2017).
the scaffolding is long gone and the figural terra cotta pediment covered over in lively colors. a few more pieces of the cream-colored terra cotta ornament are missing, but overall, it’s not a disaster. i’ve been told the interior is far worse, which is too bad, given the fact that much of it is original and intact (at least it was when i thoroughly documented it in 2015-17).
the speckled cream and light green terra cotta was executed by the midland terra cotta company (see period advertisement housed in my archive).
