slow and painful death of a post-fire chicago workers cottage revisited 8 years later

the following images – taken several years ago – were recently rediscovered (unedited) in the bldg. 51 photographic image database on 19th ands early 20th century chicago brick and wood-framed workers cottages. the post-fire structure – likely built within 1-2 years after the great chicago fire of 1871 – was demolished to make way for new construction. i’ve divded the edited images into categories chronicling its destruction, which happened in a single afternoon.
